Zachary Mobille Wins ARCS Award
Zachary Mobille
Congratulations to QBioS PhD student, Zachary Mobille, who won a two-year Achievement Rewards for Academic Scientists (ARCS) Foundation award. The ARCS Scholars Award recognizes outstanding doctoral students who have a record of past achievement and who show exceptional promise of making a significant contribution to the worldwide advancement of science and technology. The ARCS fellowship is made possible each year by way of the fundraising and continuous generous support of the ARCS-Atlanta Foundation. Zach will receive $7500 per academic year for this award.
Zach obtained a B.S. in Physics from Illinois State University (ISU), during which he studied single neurons and how they could be modeled mathematically and with electronic hardware. After this,he did an M.S. in Biomathematics at ISU where he developed mathematical models of thermoreception by a neuron in the nematode C. elegans. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Quantitative Biosciences at Georgia Institute of Technology. Zach’s current focus is on how anatomical structure and precisely timed dynamics are interrelated in networks of biological neurons. He has given presentations on his work at conferences and workshops, including the Allen Institute’s summer workshop on the dynamic brain in 2023.
